After college, I worked at The Council on Foreign Relations, Northwestern U and finally I was hired to direct plays and teach English at Libertyville High School. My second year at Libertyville, I met “the Maestro” who taught Music and we have been married for 45 years. We have two wonderful kids, whose only shortcoming is a woeful lack of grandchildren and a proliferation of grandcats. I taught at Libertyville for 36 years, teaching English Lit Honors and AP Lit. Teaching was a wonderful profession, and I still miss the kids. After retirement, I became a Master Gardener, a library trustee, an animal shelter volunteer and I work at the Stevenson Center in Mettawa, helping out with the terrific programs they bring to the community. In 2011 we bought a second home in Sanibel, Florida where I found a surprising second career as a shell artist.

grodsky, Sharon (Michalove)
After graduating, I went to the University of Illinois, where I received four degrees, eventually earning a PhD, because I didn't have the gumption to go anywhere else (and once I was working there, it seemed pointless to go anywhere else). After working at cott, Foresman and a few other places, I spent most of my career at the university, working in departmental administration, publishing and libraries. In the history department I was associate director of undergraduate studies and I also taught. My specialties are 15th-16th century European history, polar exploration, and food history.
In graduate school, I met and married the love of my life, Peter Michalove. We shared a love of music, theater, travel and cats. He died in 2013.
I also love hockey, reading, cooking, writing, and various less elevated activities like eating cookies and sampling gins and single malts. After spending most of my life in a medium-sized university town, I moved back to Chicago in 2017 so I could go to more Blackhawks games and spend quality time at Eataly.
I’m planning to publish my novel, At First Sight, in October. I have a chapter, “Sylvie Green” in A Reason to Be Here, a recently published collaborative novel. I also have the story “Hockey on the Moon” in the anthology Sci-Fi Stepdad. My manuscript of At First Sight, has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2021 Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author manuscript competition sponsored by the Illinois Library Association.
Unfortunately, my other lifetime goal, to be English, is likely to remain unfulfilled.

Hagen, jim
Back in the summer of 1969, my family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, so I lost touch with a lot of GBS's Class of 1969. I did keep in touch with a few people at the U of I, where I got BS in Economics and an MBA. I met my wife Patty at Illinois, and after graduating, spent the next 27 years with Procter and Gamble. We moved 5 times in the first 7 years, and then found ourselves in Bay Village, Ohio, which we loved. We lived there for 35+ years. We have three kids, and now that they all have kids, 6 grandkids ages 9 to newborn.
I took an early retirement from P&G and worked as the Director of Administration and Ministry Development at our church for 9 years. And, for the last 7 years have been an independent consultant working with big (e.g., Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Clinic) and many small business clients doing a variety of projects.
In late 2015, Patty and I moved to Denver. None of our kids were coming back to Cleveland, and two of our three kids (and all of our grandkids at the time) lived in Denver. We all live in the same neighborhood, which is very nice and a lot of fun. With clients in Cleveland, Denver, and Boston, we travel a bit and get to see our friends in Bay Village on a regular basis.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion! Should be fun on many levels.

Harrison, Joseph (Jeph)
After college I spent three years teaching English at York High School. I gave up teaching for law school at NU and then worked for three years, 1979 to 1982 as an associate in the law firm Sidley Austin. I left Sidley in 1982 to serve for five years as General Counsel for National Futures Association, returning to Sidley in 1987 as a partner where I labored until the end of 2008. Then I became Senior Counsel at Sidley supervising the associates in our private fund practice in Hong Kong and Singapore which I could do from home or wherever so no more commuting. Now I work about 300 hours a year and spend the rest of my time with grandchildren, playing golf, doing woodworking and traveling with my spouse. Fun!
Jo and I started dating in our Senior year at Princeton and were married the August after graduation so we are coming up on 45 years. We have five children and nine grandchildren. Our oldest, Kit, is an investment banker with Brown Gibbons Lang in Chicago. He lives in the Logan Square neighborhood and has four children. Our second son, Marc is a partner with Greenberg Traurig, lives in Wilmette near us and has three children. Our older daughter and her husband (both also Princeton graduates) are doctors living in Seattle with two children. Our younger daughter Tessa was married in 2016 and lives in Oakland California where she is a neuroscientist at Berkeley. Our youngest, Tom, is about to be married, lives in Chicago, has a day job but loves to write comedy and produce shows and podcasts. Check out “The Skewer” wherever you get your podcasts!

herold, chuck (creston c. herold, jr.)
I graduated from Gettysburg College, biology 1973. Martha, who I met in the Gettysburg College choir, and I married 7/25/75. The wedding party included GBS classmates Paul Struve, Rick Johns, Jim Lee and the late Jim Breckenridge. She helped me weather Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, MD 1979.
I did my family practice residency, Harrisburg (PA) Hospital 1979-1982. Martha and I found out I would be training in Harrisburg shortly after the near meltdown at Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant, located just down river from the hospital. Despite the jokes about getting a lead jock strap, by the time residency started I was convinced TMI must have had to become the safest, best run nuclear plant in the world.
My first partner and I opened West Shore Family Practice on 8/2/82, just across the river from Harrisburg. We had just moved into our first house. Within several weeks our first child was born. Don’t know how we did it! Martha, our superb office manager, and I retired from WSFP May 31, 2018.
We have three children. Christine married her high school sweetheart, a foreign exchange student from Germany. She and Tobi have 2 bilingual, darling little girls and live in a charming German village near the Danish border. Christine finds time to be a part time instructor at the University of Flensburg where she is working on a PhD in educational linguistics. Creston is a PhD physicist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. He and wife Carrie have a daughter and son. Paul, the only one without kids, lives in Harrisburg and works at the Milton Hershey Medical College as a basic science research tech and tutors high school kids in math and science.
Being grandparents is a great gig, but they are so far away! Of course both Martha and I took lots of French and no German. Rosetta Stone and Duolingo not withstanding, our German is hopeless. Thankfully, most Germans we come into contact with on our visits speak English well enough.
Music has remained a strong avocation. In part I have to thank the Titan Male Chorus for that. Martha and I have sung in our church choir since the mid 1980s.
I also enjoy hiking, especially in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and canoeing. Some canoe trips have included whitewater in Canada and the Lehigh River in PA.

Hello all; it’s exciting to be getting back in touch, and I’m very much looking forward to our 50thin a few weeks!
My story before, at, and since GBS has been of locating myself, my place & people. Also of passion, adventure, art, academics, wildness, partnering, parenting, music, performance, teaching, some peace in helping others. Early on my dad was military, then his medical school and 3 different residencies were in different places; so lots of moving around, the sum being, along with pre-school physical traumas including head injury, not much comfort inside my skin, an un-rootedness. GBS was a good community in so many ways (once we got there sophomore year!), in which to find allies, interests, and mentors in my deep awkwardness, and for this I am still grateful.
67 yr-old perspective is so helpful; it’s truly powerful to look back and connect the dots, and this is one of the best things about a (very!) mature class reunion – it’s like stepping into a time machine, yes, back to the future.
I left Glenview for Colorado College (Colorado Springs) Fall ’69 excited, bewildered, angry, experimental. Many art and philosophy classes later, sit-ins & marches, LSD and whatever else I could get my hands on, hitchhiking around the Midwest and western states, I settled into studying nutrition books and vegetarian cooking off campus instead of going to class, hours each day of meditation and yoga, eventually dropping out of college after junior year to explore ashrams and figure out what, with personal, social and economic survival in mind, I wanted to do with my life. A lovely but ill-fated love lead to New England, where I spent a year working in Hospital. If you knew me as a science major at GBS, no surprise that an interest in medicine was re-emerging in 1972.
After going back to CC to finish my declared major in art, and cramming in standard pre-med classes, doing well on the MCAT, I failed to get into med school, such an odd meditating vegetarian social-objector drop-out I was. Which turned out to be perfect; see below. Following my folks in a move to Seattle, I attended Cornish Institute of Fine Arts for two years, majoring in classical music composition and voice. Met my first wife Debbie, art major. But the old pragmatic bugaboo returned – was this how I wanted to earn my living, provide for a family? Decided no.
And then….long story short I stumbled, with help, across an old but dying alternative medical profession called naturopathy. Think primary care physician who prioritizes helping people with whatever the usual is they’ve got – a problem with blood pressure, early diabetes mellitus, chronic fatigue, stomach ulcers, rheumatoid arthritis etc. – with methods based as much as possible in lifestyle, adaptive physiology, plants and nutrition as medicine, and then using pharmaceuticals or referral to specialists if the level of risk to the patient, or their comfort, requires it per sensible guidelines. It’s roots in botanical medicine, German homeopathy and hydrotherapy, and early Hygiene (nutrition, fasting, exercise, breathing, sleep, sunlight, laughter, love etc.), in the 70s naturopathic medicine was merging with evidence-based medicine and attempting a mainstream comeback (the alternative was to die out). I went through the only accredited naturopathic medical degree program at the time (with another of GBS’ class of ’69, wonder of wonders, my good buddy and colleague Ruth Adele -- was Ruth A. Williams at GBS, and she’s coming to our reunion!).
Three years after graduating I joined the clinical faculty part-time of what was to become Bastyr University (https://bastyr.edu/), and with a dynamic and visionary group of PhDs and NDs (Doctor of Naturopathy) helped to bring this medical practice and training into the lights of science, historical integrity, and credibility, with full scope pharmaceutical prescribing in WA, primary care gatekeeper status and inclusion in all 3-rd party reimbursements in WA, including Medicaid. A Full Professor in 1996, I’ve been very active in university governance, academic policy and procedure making, responsible for teaching Environmental Medicine and Toxicology competencies, and mentoring first-yr med students in our philosophy, principles, and beginning clinical theory & practice. For all of that, the bulk of my contract with BU over these 33 years has been in clinics, teaching – evaluating and managing patients side-by-side with senior medical students in our large and diverse out-patient clinic system. And, though getting to help patients feel and be better is certainly gratifying, what I love most in my job these years is the teaching.
Debbie and I had a girl and a boy during my first and third years of med school. Debbie was finishing a BFA and working; I worked weekends, studied a lot, didn’t sleep much. Our marriage didn’t survive that, and my immaturities helped the demise along, too, divorce coming around the time I graduated from Bastyr U. We went on to raise our daughter, Anna (now 39), and son Otis (now 37) in the back and forth way of amicable co-parenting in two households. The kids turned out great, large credit due to their good, durable, wise souls, some credit to Debbie and I doing a super job under the circumstances.
Anna is an OB-Gyn in Portland, OR, with a great husband and two boys, Arlo (6) and Ren (3). Otis is a Licensed Acupuncturist, LMT and herbalist in Victoria, BC, Canada. Otis started out this life mis-identified; we had named him “Heidi”. Otis told us he was/is transgender, and his new name, about 15 years ago, lovingly beginning the most patient, gracious process imaginable of retraining everyone in his family. A quadruple Pisces, he’s a remarkable person, a psychic poet empath. I couldn’t be more happy for him, though I worry sometimes about his safety in this violent, often unloving world.
After my second marriage in 2008 lasted only two years, I realized I needed to figure out how I was screwing up. Two years of a men’s therapy group turned out to be the single most transforming, good learning experience of my adult life. In brief, I made some headway with respect, not taking everything personally, emotional honesty, the art of simply showing up. Two and a half years ago, at a contra-dance weekend in Portland OR, I met Joan, up from Klamath Falls OR, 450 miles from Shoreline/Seattle WA. No matter. I know I haven’t the track record to back this up, but I’ll say it anyway – I finally know what it feels like to want to spend the rest of my life with this one person. What’s she like? If you know Mozart’s Magic Flute, Joan is my Papagena. Which would make me her Papageno (;^))
Funsies and other satisfactions:
-- Short and long-distance backpacking (grouped or solo)
-- Decided 2 years ago to learn to ballroom dance – still working on it!
-- Grandkids, kids
-- I love to cook
-- My mother, almost 94, is still with us, happy and comfortable, in an excellent retirement assisted living facility nearby. We’ve been dear friends my whole life. My siblings and I don’t know how much longer she’ll be with us, and there’s no predicting; she’s definitely fading, but strong and stubborn!
-- Few of you likely knew – for a couple years in HS I took the train to North Avenue each week for banjo lessons at the Old Town School of Folk Music. (It’s still there.) I’ve kept it up, and play and sing in hootenannies, song circles, and occasional small stage performances at area fairs, markets, pubs.
-- Finally, when I moved to the Pacific NW and went to the County Fair, I saw my first Dahlia blossom. If you do not know what dahlias look like and you like flowers, or simply like color, take a look Online – omg they are to die for! Presently my front yard is full of about 110 dahlia varieties (and half a dozen fruit trees). When the number of blossoms each week (300-400/wk, August-Sept-Oct) got out of hand 4 years ago, I started the Dahlias for Seniors project. We exchange the flowers for donations at the local Senior Center (where I’ve run a free clinic Mondays for about 12 years) and at our neighborhood microbrew Pub, and the take goes to the Senior Center’s general fund.

After GBS, I went on to Colgate University, majoring in Mathematical Economics. Had I been smart enough to flunk a few classes, I might have been part of that performance. In the 1980s, I was part of the swing vocal group Post War Baby Boom, playing at the Playboy Club, Grant Park’s Petrillo Band Shell, and many other venues around town. Also at Colgate, I spent a semester overseas in Croatia, and was Editor-in-Chief of the college newspaper. Upon graduation, I became a journalist for the Tri-County News, a Gannett newspaper in Glens Falls, NY. After a year there, I decided I didn’t want to continue in journalism, so I got my MBA in Marketing at Columbia University (although I couldn’t get journalism completely out of my system — I was editor of the business school’s newspaper). I went on to work in consumer products, introducing new products including Era Laundry Detergent, McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets, and Equal Sugar Substitute. I also rejuvenated old brands, including Icy Hot Topical Analgesic, where I became friends with the late Clarence Linden Crabbe II (aka Buster Crabbe, Tarzan, Flash Gordon). I then introduced many new products for Dean Foods and Baskin-Robbins, and briefly taught New Product Development at DePaul University. In 1991 I started my own consulting firm, focusing on marketing insights and creative solutions for small-to-mid-sized businesses. Semi-retired now, I still take on projects upon request. More recently, I’ve become involved in homebrewing, occasionally teaching a homebrew class to benefit the Evanston Ecology Center. I’m known for being very humble.

I got off the plane that deposited me at Logan Airport September of 1969, and just stayed for the next 50 years. Graduated Boston University, married a native Bostonian (who, like most of them, has eliminated the letter 'R' from the alphabet) 48 years ago, polished those piano keys to earn a Masters degree in music, had four kids along the way, and now 5 grands to date. Winding down our careers, we still operate Bob's sports law practice and I, my music studio, both in business so long, we enjoy working with some second generation clients. Not into social media, we communicate via phone, email and text. And, I still have all my old vinyl first edition records, if anyone cares.
Like you, we have stories to tell and look forward to hearing yours this weekend. A special note to Phil, Carol and soul-mate Milke: I will continue always to find you guys, often in each other's backyards and forever in my heart.

Wow, 50 years is a long time! I've spent most of my career in marketing - working for CBS Television and an advertising agency in Chicago and then moving to NY where I worked for Time Inc. (Sports Illustrated and People Magazine), then Time Warner Entertainment. After my husband passed away, I decided to shift my career a bit and work on helping people market themselves. So the second part of my career has been in career management - outplacement, executive coaching, etc. It's been great and very rewarding, as well as introducing me to the great guy who eventually became my second (and current) husband. About 6 years ago my parents asked me to move to Knoxville, TN so I could be nearby to help them. So we did and I had the opportunity to continue my career virtually with a bit a travel. My father has since passed away, but my mother just turned 98. In addition to work, Henry (my husband) and I love to travel (although we can't right now as I need to stay close for my mother), enjoy cooking and getting together with friends for good food, wine and fun. We also love animals - have two pets and help care for some strays from time to time.

I moved to Florida 2 weeks before my senior year at GBS and I wasn’t very happy about it. (But I lived!!) In fact, after graduating from a Ft. Lauderdale high school, I returned to Glenview for the summer of ‘69. I was delighted and grateful for the opportunity Perry Lumpp and her family extended me.
I have 2 children, and 2 step-children with 7 grandchildren across the country. I’m still a working gal! Moved to Florida in 2000... trying my hand as a Surgical Technologist. (Secret passion the inner workings of the human body). One day, I was approached by one of the new doctors ....did I know anyone who might like to work for him and his wife....as a Nanny. BAM!! Just like that, I accepted their offer and it has been one of the best decisions and a most rewarding 13 years. I also work with other families/doctors in the area as an organizational specialist.
I love my grandchildren!!!! Is there anything better? Their ages range from preschool to college.
I remain physically active....gym for the most part. Had to give up cycling, which I loved, due to some occasional vertigo. Live simply, enjoying music, dance, theatre, reading, cooking and spending time with my family.

Barb and I will celebrate our 40th anniversary this fall. We have two daughters, Jennifer, married with two children who lives in Washington DC, and Jacqueline, married with two children living in O’Fallon, IL.
I graduated from the University of Miami and went straight into Air Force pilot training. I flew the airborne command post and air refueling tankers for most of my 24 year career. My second assignment in the Air Force was Rapid City, SD where I met the light of my life, Barb. We married there and the adventure began. Over the next 18 years our family moved 6 times and we all enjoyed every stop along the way. The last move was to southern Illinois near St. Louis where both our girls went to high school. When I retired from the Air Force, I got involved in the high school band boosters. That lasted several rewarding years, but when the girls went to college, Barb and I visited the Harley dealer and we’ve been riding ever since. That was 15 years ago and we’re still here. We spend our time traveling, spoiling the grand kids and totally enjoying retirement. Now the dark side: In a strange twist of fate, this lifelong baseball and Cubs fan converted – I am now an avid Cardinals and Blues fan. Sorry Chi-town.

Hello Everybody, Just a little update. After getting out of GBS I elected to put myself thru another four years of excitement like most of you. Learned how to fly and over the past 50 years have bought and sold many airplanes which I have enjoyed doing. I also have found time to become a commodity broker and ran my own firm. I did buy a tree farm in Afton,MN and currently help my one of my sons operate Yellow House Vineyard which just harvested 30,000 pounds of grapes this season. Also enjoy St Croix Classics (car dealership) where we own and collect classic cars and help with marketing at a company another son acquired Snappy Dog Salsa. When I'm not doing those things I am the CFO for Kaye Family Wealth Management. Hope you all are doing well and will try to make the next re union.

After GBS I earned 3 degrees from Northern Illinois University: B.A. (‘73); M.S.Ed. (‘77); and a doctorate (Ed.D. ‘91) in educational administration.
For 33 years I served in public education as a junior high social studies teacher and assistant principal in Schaumburg; a K-4 principal in Morton Grove; principal of Northbrook Junior High School and later Associate Superintendent; and finished my career as Superintendent of Schools in Lincolnwood District 74.
I met my wife Marsha at NIU, and we married in 1974. Our 2 children, Jon and Jenn, are now in their late 30s, married and Jon and his wife have a daughter, Emma - my 4 year old granddaughter. I’ve lived in Glenview for 60 of my 67 years.
In 2003 Marsha died suddenly of a catastrophic cerebral hemorrhage at age 51. Over the next 3 years, 5 other family members or close friends died. I was alone for 9 years until I met and, in 2012, married Connie whom I love dearly.
One month after Marsha died, I left my job as Superintendent and started a nonprofit Christian ministry, Designed to Serve (DtS). We teach people how to know and live out their unique, God-given calling. DtS has allowed me to speak and teach in the U.S., Latin America, Africa, Europe and Russia.
By far the most important and life-changing event of my life took place in 1975 when I asked Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior and Lord. Everything else in my life pales in comparison.

Still a nerd. Followed a curiosity for using technology to solve problems. Studied at USF and embarked on career #1 with Citicorp and Credit Suisse First Boston developing hardware and software products. Moved from NY to Raleigh, NC in ’95 and started career #2 by founding The Hunter Group, a recruiting agency specializing in tech and diversity hiring. Then, in 2005 started career #3 with the formation of a company servicing higher education with career-related software tools. My wife, Deborah, and I have been married for 38 years. We have two children: Rachel (34) living in DC and Ian (30) also living nearby.
I graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in political science and moved to DC to work for Chicago Congressman Sidney Yates, writing speeches and drafting legislation. Moved to Boston to edit an econometrics journal and work on a bank software system (where I met Deborah). Then moved back to DC to start the artificial intelligence division of a consulting firm, creating an AI system to monitor and predict hospital-acquired infections (for the Air Force and HHS) and another system to monitor and intuit illegal sales to foreign entities of technology that could be used to make atomic weapons. Then another 20 years or so working in communications for a variety of clients, including NASA, The Smithsonian, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, and many more.
Ran the New York City Marathon in 2019 along with about 55,000 of my closest running buddies and ran it again in 2021. Improved my time by over 10 minutes and broke five hours! Ran the Berlin Marathon in September of 2022. Next up…Chicago or Tokyo.

How do you sum up 50 years in 25 words or less? Ok, the journey starts with the first step. I am a Mathematical Economist, working to craft Algorithmic Trading Systems. I live in the Rio Verde Foothills, outside of Scottsdale, Arizona in the shadow of the tallest mountains in Phoenix. Morning welcomes espresso and the sunrise over the Four Peaks from the patio of the new home that I built and moved into only last week. I am a bachelor and have a daughter, Melanie, who is about to turn forty and a grandson, Reed. My entire family reside here, spread across this valley. After High School, I studied Economics, International Finance and hedonism at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Afterwards, I returned to Chicago to join the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as a currency and gold arbitrageur. I have lived in Manhattan; from Billy Joel's uptown, Fifth Avenue apartment to an artist's loft in the Village, the beach in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, McHenry County farm country, Top of the World in Laguna Beach, California, the mountains of Prescott's national forest and now, home to roost in the greater Phoenix area. As much as I love to wake up to wilderness, I miss the black soil, green lushness and amazing cuisine possibilities of Chicago. Though wanderlust has been my watchword and I heard that inner voice beckoning "Go West, young man"; and I listened carefully. Looking forward to connecting with you alumnae. Feel free to email me or call. These days, a main pleasure and goal is “to connect” on some meaningful level.

Upon Graduation, I spent my college years in Dekalb at Northern Illinois. Then I moved west to San Francisco in August of 1973. I worked in the Air Cargo Transportation field where I met my husband in 1975. We married in 1982 and I was lucky enough to be a stepmom to his 4 kids and now 7 grandkids.
I worked for Itel and Genstar Corporations. In 1984 I stopped working to be at home with my first and only child. Upon his graduation from Law School he is now a Deputy District Attorney for Contra Costa County in California. When he was young, I was volunteering so much at school they offered me a job. That job led me back to Special Education and teaching for the next 26 years. I recently retired in June of 2018.
I have been fortunate enough to travel to many places around the world. Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing. And on the other side of the world, Scotland, England, France, Monaco, Holland, Austria, Germany and Spain (really enjoyed Barcelona.) Amsterdam is my favorite city in Europe and in 2017 we embarked on a Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam down the Main and Danube rivers through Germany into Vienna Austria and finally Budapest Hungary. Off the beaten path we also vacationed in Athens Greece and spent several days visiting Mykonos. I look forward to travelling to many more places on my bucket list and of course also in the USA as well.
A few of my hobbies and interests include puzzles, crossword and Sudoku. I practice Yoga, daily workouts at the gym, hiking, reading, and golf. I also love walking and spending downtime with our Rescue Dog Kleo. She is a Dachshund Terrier mix and gives us hours of joy.
Lastly, I am fortunate enough to still have both of my parents alive. Mom is 93 and Dad is 92. My older brother Marshall lives in Virginia Beach and my younger brother Lynn in Palmetto Bluffs in Bluffton, South Carolina. Sadly, my sister Laura passed away in November of 2018. Laura resided at Lambs Farm for over 40 years. After her passing we moved my parents from Chicago to an assisted living home in Bluffton near to my younger brother and his family.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at the reunion.

From GBS, I went on to earn a B.S. in English from the University of Akron in December 1973. That's where I met my wife, Margie. We married Jan. 25, 1975. We have two sons -- Joe, who is single and lives in Thornton, Ill., and Matt, who is married (Kristin), has two sons (Gram, Luke) and lives in Idaho Springs, CO. I spent my entire career (1974-2015) as a sports writer, beginning with brief stints at small papers in Ohio and South Carolina and ending with 38 years at the Lexington (KY) Herald-Leader. I had a blast, covering Cincinnati teams in the World Series and Super Bowl. Also covered NCAA Championships in several sports and traveled 12 times to Olympic Games (seven Summer, five Winter). I stay connected to local sports by working as a “spotter” for a company that records high school football and basketball statistics. I also stay active in Rotary International, Knights of Columbus and the Jessamine County Food Pantry. I am a USA Track and Field (Master level) official and work at college track and field meets nearly every weekend from January through June.

“Married to Rich Preves, Donna holds the distinction of being the longest married. She and Rich have 2 sons, Greg, 14 and Bobby, 11. Donna has live in Urbana and Chicago and travelled to California, Michigan, Florida, Texas and D.C. When not gardening or tending to the school board, Donna claims her most favorite thing to do is spend money. Is that right, Rich?”

I primarily live in Houston but also have a 2nd home in the Canadian Rockies (near Banff for those who know the area). I retired at the end of 2014 from Royal Dutch Shell where I was an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant. I had the privilege of traveling the globe for the 17 years I was with Shell. Prior to that, I worked in Sales and Marketing for various companies: Baxter Healthcare and Sysco. My first career, which vaulted me into the other 2, was as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. I worked in hospitals in New Orleans before shifting to Sales and Marketing in a Technical Capacity (Nutrition). I have lived in New Orleans (when married to Ken Lass), Indianapolis, Los Angeles/Santa Monica, Houston, Chicago, and finally Houston which has been home since 1993. After years of moving around, my husband, Milton and I have lived in the same house for 30+ years. We love Houston, its people, winters and all there is to do. And we love Alberta because it is beautiful and cooler than Houston in summer!!
Since graduating from GBS, I went to Valparaiso University (BS in Nutrition), Loyola University, New Orleans (M.Ed. in Counseling) and finally, Pepperdine University (M.S. in Organization Development).
We love to travel. To date, I have been to 48 countries and will visit Turkey for the first time this October after bike and boat trips to Croatia and Greece. We’re also planning a trip to Japan in April 2024.
Retirement is the best. I play bridge, hike and bike, travel, read, garden, every day, enjoy entertaining and attending Bible Study. Several years ago, I began teaching Bible Study, initially to a group of women and now at my church where I do a 6 week ladies study every fall and spring. This year, we will be covering the Book of Acts. The lessons are in person and on zoom, if anyone wants to join!! https://www.hfmin.net/will-you-be-brave-bible-study-for-women
I've been married to my husband, Milton, for 26 years. After stints as a pastor, fund raiser and therapist, he retired in summer of 2021. Since then, he is consumed with writing Western novels under the pseudonym of Roy Clinton. https://www.topwesterns.com/

Now living in Dallas, I am reaching the end of my active legal career as a litigator, and in early 2023 will segue into semi-retirement by acting a few days each month as an arbitrator and mediator, which will be designed to fill in the gaps when I am not traveling, golfing, skiing, hiking, non-profit activities, and otherwise actively endeavoring to avoid being a new entry to the in memoriam section of the Class of '69 website. I have been blessed by having a great son who is everything I hoped he would become: a thoughtful, nice, highly intelligent, accomplished, handsome (and tall!) young man. (At least genetically he inherited my hair.)
Still crazy after all these years, if not more so.

After graduating from Northwestern University, I worked in banking, real estate, and marketing in suburban Chicago. Then in 1986, I moved to Sarasota, Florida where I began using my middle name, Suzanne, worked as Director of Corporate Communications for an insurance company, and founded a Toastmasters Club. Following a company downsizing in 2001, I relocated to Seattle, became a free-lance writer, sang in a choir for nine years, and met Gary Mantz who created a partnership with me both personally and in radio. I moved back to Sarasota in 2011 with Gary where we continue to broadcast a Seattle-based talk radio show called Mantz and Mitchell. Like all of us, my life has been a mix of challenges and successes. With fifty year's perspective, I am grateful for my high school experiences and the quality people I knew at Glenbrook South.

I have made Colorado my home for the past 48 years. I recently retired from the automotive repair and towing business and relish the time I spend with my 2 daughters and sons-in-law and our 3 beautiful (& gifted) grandchildren. I have always been a "gear head" and have two '69 Chevelles that keep me busy! My wife of 41 years, Sue, and I are looking forward to enjoying the fruits of our labor! Life is good!

I graduated from Univ. of Ill at Champaign with a BA in Economics - and met (and subsequently married) Jim Hopkins - GBS class of '68. We both got our MBAs from Northwestern University and spent a year in California (Newport Beach !) before returning to Glenview. (We currently live in the Savilles' house on Spruce in Swainwood!)
I joined Continental Bank in '76 and had a long career there in a variety of areas of Finance, including the mergers with Bank of America and NationsBank. I retired as a Sr VP / Managing Director and, after early retirement, had a 10-year second career doing consulting work with Bank of America, managing Discovery for very large litigations - my favorite role. After that, I cared for my elderly mother until she passed away last year. Jim & I don't have children, but have wonderful nieces & nephews.
Now that we're both retired and unencumbered, we've been doing a lot of traveling. We've discovered river and sea cruising in Europe and we're traveling all over the US, catching up with friends and family. I love reading about everyone's story!! Thanks to Rick and Jim for being willing to put all this together!!
